The Parks Charity Walk Raises Funds For Hospice

The Parks Farmers Market charity walk on June 16 raised R10 010 for Hospice East Rand.

The walk started at 08:00 at Norton’s Home Estate.

Residents of Benoni came in numbers with their pets to support this initiative. All funds raised from the event were donated to Hospice to carry out their mission of helping and supporting those with life-threatening illnesses. According to event organiser, Paola van Zyl, giving back to the community is how the restaurant chose to celebrate their decade birthday. The Italian restaurant chose to make yellow drinks in representation of the Hospice colour.

“We have at least three runs a year to give back to the community. This is our second run this year and we hope to have more soon,” said Van Zyl.

Marketing and media liaison at Hospice East Rand, Jonquil Siepman, said: “We are very grateful to the team at the Parks and to our community for their support. They really do keep us going. We also thank everyone who came to support the event.”

After the walk, participants were rewarded with various prizes that included puppucccinos for their dogs.
