Our Services – Training
Hospice East Rand offers various courses centred around palliative care. These range from full-time, to five day courses as well as one day workshops. The courses are offered under the auspices of the Association of Palliative Care Centres of South Africa (APCC). Training material has been formulated by APCC and is utilised by registered Hospices nationwide. From time to time training bursaries are offered.
We have a fully fitted classroom audited and approved by the APCC for on-site training and Hospice East Rand is accredited by the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO).

Full-time Courses
Full-time Home-Based Personal Care Worker
Format: full-time face-to-face theory, practical work and work skills placement
Duration: 12 months
Cost: R26 000.00 per person (50% deposit on acceptance, followed by 10 monthly installments of R1 300.00)
Full qualification NQF 3
Home-Based Personal Care Worker. NQF Level 3, SAQA ID 104792

5 Knowledge Modules,6 Practical Modules, 8 Workplace Experience Modules
Entry Requirement
Grade 12 schooling with English and Maths (Core or Lit)
Accreditation
QCTO accredited training and examination centre

Introduction to Palliative Care for Carers 5 Day Course
Format: Face-to-face
Duration: 40 hours
Early Bird Rate: R2999 per person (3 months before course start date)
Rate: R3550 per person
Accreditation Body
UCT 30 CEU and accepted as standardised by the Western Cape Department of Health
Target Audience
Trained Home-Based Carers/Community Workers/Enrolled Nursing Assistants/Auxiliary Social Workers
Closing Date for Registration
One month before commencement date – Minimum 15 up to a maximum of 20 participants per training session.

Introduction to Palliative Care for Health Professionals 5 Day Course
Format: Face-to-face
Duration: 40 hours
Early Bird Rate: R3500 per person (3 months before course start date)
Rate: R3950 per person
Accreditation Body
The training is HPSCA accredited for 30 CPD points and is registered with the University of Cape Town.
CPD Points
30 CPD points from Association of Palliative Care Centres of South Africa (APCC) and CPD points pending from South African Council for Social Service Professionals (SACSSP)
Target Audience
Medical Officers, Registered Professional Nurses, Clinical Nurse Practitioners and Social and Allied Workers
Closing Date for Registration
