“St Benedict’s lives by their motto “Veritas in Caritate” which simply translated means Truth in Charity. This was evident while standing under one of their gazebos this Mandela Day enjoying a cup of coffee with staff and parents,” says Jonquil Siepman, Marketing and Media liaison for Hospice East Rand.
St Bennies was supporting Hospice East Rand’s Bring-A-Thing fundraiser for Mandela Day. The fundraiser aims to generate second hand household items that can be resold in one of our nine charity shops situated around the East Rand. Funds generated from items sold go directly into our organisation to support community members with life-limiting illnesses and especially those not fortunate enough to have medical aid.
Fr Thabo Mothiba, the school chaplain at St Benedict’s added, “We are blessed to have a generous community that truly lives out the call to be a light in the world through their giving. The opportunity to support Hospice East Rand means so much to us and we look forward to their exciting fundraiser, the Polar Plunge, which will take place on our campus next month.”
The morning was filled with smiles and generosity from staff, parents and children. Items donated ranged from small to large household goods and we were blown away by the care and support!
