Hospice East Rand held one of its biggest annual fundraisers ‘The Polar Plunge” on August 20. Hospice opted for a hybrid event which saw participants take part at their homes or the live event.
St Benedict’s College graciously allowed us to use their outdoor pool for the live event.
This year, as a massive cold front swept over Gauteng, 2016 Olympic swimmer Doug Erasmus joined in the fun. We had great support on the morning of the live event with many individuals jumping in with Doug. Donuts were on sale afterwards thanks to a donation from George’s Bread & Co.
Hospice East Rand provides care for patients diagnosed with a life-limiting illness. This care is medical, psychosocial and spiritual. We also support the patient’s family members through this journey. We support both patients with and without medical aid and being an NPO, have to generate funding for those patients who cannot afford to pay for our services. Many of our patients fall into this category.
